Today. Conversion therapy on LGBTQ minors is officially illegal in the state of Utah. I currently reside in Utah’s capital city, Salt Lake City. This is huge to me. I wish that this amendment would have been made years ago. All the lives that could have been spared. All of the experiences and emotions that could have been felt by our brothers and sisters who left us all too soon due to being mistreated, abused, persecuted, cast out. Feeling as if their identity was so misunderstood by their family and society that they didn’t have a place. I will never fully understand their suffering, but how I wish I make it as if it never happened.
I am grateful to have friends, siblings, even employers that are accepting and see that each human being on this planet has a heart. That heart is what defines them. That heart is what drives them and guides them. Looking unto the heart is what I hope will define this year and define the direction that society goes. As Utah becomes the 19th state in United States to obliterate conversion therapy’s existence, I hope that this will spread like wildfire to our 31 other states and across the world!
I dedicate my life to loving every type of human in the world. Learning what makes them who they are and motivates them to get through each and every day. Whatever it is defines you, makes you who you are, I want to know it, understand it. A lot of us do! -So with that I say clamor it to the world in your expression, words, AND actions!
On a happy note, bringing this look together was really quite fun. I thrifted this vintage forever 21 shirt, it’s a tad small on me, but a nice tuck and high waist pant made it the perfect statement. New Clarks shoes from my mother dearest brought the perfect brown I needed for the outfit to feel complete. Rusty reds. Moody tans. A pop of plaid. I feel very granola today!
I hope that you are all having a happy happy january day <3
